wkcl Woolwich Kent Cricket League

We currently play in the Woolwich Kent Cricket League having joined as part of the major league restructuring which took place at the start of the 1996 season. The league comprises a premier division plus first and second divisions at both first and second team level. As the name suggests the league covers the entire county of Kent (including part of south east London). It is the major league in the county and is sponsored by the Woolwich Building Society. Prior to joining the WKCL we played in the South Thames League which was based in south-east London and the western half of Kent. The STL now operates at third team level only.

Following promotion for the first eleven in 1997 they will play in division 1 in 1998 while the second eleven will continue to play in the second division. The competition begins in early May and runs through to mid September. All games are played on Saturday afternoons with a 50 overs per team format and start at 1:30pm (12:30pm from mid August). The sponsors provide two new balls per game. Each team plays each other once over the course of the season with promotion/relegation as appropriate depending on the final position in the table. Full details are available on the league's web page.

Nat Gould Nat Gould Trophy

Nat Gould was a sports photographer with the local Mercury Newspaper and therefore regularly covered matches involving ourselves and our neighbours Blackheath Cricket Club. When Nat died a Trophy was donated in his honour and this has been played for by the two teams in a one-off cup match ever since.

Friendly Friendlies

We have a full fixture list of friendly cricket generally played on Sunday afternoons. The majority of the fixtures are played within easy travelling distance of our south London base with only the occasional trip to other locations. Many of the fixtures are longstanding but invariably some changes in our card occur each season and it always a pleasure to meet new teams so why not drop us a line? - we may have a vacant date !
