Pictured here is the transmitter used every week for transmissions to Europe from the UK on 12256 Khz short wave. As you can see it is a little out of focus but it is the best one we have at the moment.
Looking at the picture you can see the Audio transformer on the left with the 12256 Khz crystal next to it. The smaller valve is the EL 84 and the larger valve towards the right is the 6146 RF output valve. Also in view are the coils and tuning capacitors.
At the moment we do not have a clear picture of the power supply and smoothing circuits which are located in the black and silver box under the transmitter.
WR International is a free radio station operating on 12256 Khz short wave.
The station has a lively outlook and sound with all the attitudes of a professional radio station. The music policy on WR International is pure nostalgia, any track as long as it is more than 3 years old. At the moment that means tracks from 1955 - 1995 inclusive.

At WRI we do our best to sound as professional as we can (but don't forget we are only human) with the abilities that we have. All the music played on WRI is an original recording recorded by the original artists, and many of the tracks are played off original vynal pressings (basically a record, one of those black plastic things with a groove in it) and when taken off CD it is made sure that it is the original.
Each program on WRI contains at least 16 songs per hour, a weather forecast for all major European cities and news on the hour during live programs.
The transmission time for WR International are From a Saturday night at 22:00 UTC - 10:30 UTC on a Sunday morning.
The current Studio that we use consists of 2 identical CD players, 2 identical record decks, 2 cassette players for play back of Jingles and commercials only, a sattelite receiver for the news feed, an FM radio for monitoring our 105.5 Stereo output, an amplifier for powering our monitor speakers, a cassette deck for recording off air (for those that like to), a stereo compressor and a graphic equalizer and sound processor which feeds both the AM and FM transmitters.
Below is a picture of the studio although this was taken before the sattelite receiver was placed in view.
