Why an
exhibition of "bad" photographs?
Photographs become bad when you decide they are; when you
tear them up, throw them away, or lose them. Bad
photographs donīt fit in the usual aesthetic patterns,
but thatīs exactly why they are interesting. They can
open new perspectives to the world around you and help
you break away from the old way of seeing things.
Why accept photographs from
anyone?
Letīs look at the world through the eyes of Mr. and Mrs.
Average, the eyes of a non-professional. Their way of
dealing with the camera is not like that of Ansel Adams;
itīs fresher, unspoiled.
By the way, we have always been interested in how the
living room of the "Averages" looks like. We
aren't able to buy a peek into these areas, so we have to
be creative. We ask others to send us their photographs
or we beg people coming out of the photoshop to give us
the worst picture they have. We call this "TAKING
PHOTOGRAPHS WITHOUT"; in this case WITHOUT A CAMERA.

Why photographs by
accident?
By not looking through the view-finder of our camera a
new perspective with an even greater element of surprise
comes alive. The content of the picture is chosen more or
less by accident. We are "TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS
WITHOUT", in this case WITHOUT A VIEW-FINDER.
The camera is more honest without the photographer behind
it. Looking at these photographs you will find a sort of
unfiltered reality. You'll be amazed by the new
perspectives and aesthetic insights that open before your
eyes.

Why found photographs?
Another way of TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS WITHOUT A CAMREA AND
WITHOUT A VIEW-FINDER is either to find photographs
yourself (on the street, in photo boothes etc.) or have
others send you the photos they've found. Finding
photographs always happens by accident. Found photographs
are taken by non-professionals in most cases and they are
bad in almost every case!
