Maharlika Tennis Club
An affiliated club of PATAS, Inc.
The "PATAS-Maharlika Tennis Club" is one of the established PATAS Incorporated’ affiliated tennis club in Western Sydney area, New South Wales.
This club was formerly The Philippine Australia Tennis Club ("Phil. –Aust") headed before by Mr. MannyDiel and Mr. Ramon Orap. Some of the original members were Mr. Edward Teddy and Freddie Loredo both now in USA. Others includes Mr. Bob Alipalo, Al Mangoba, Remy Nieto, Dodo Guttierez, Domingo Baltero, and Speedy Villanueva. Early in 1986 the club name was changed to "The Westerners Tennis Club" until the name of Maharlika Tennis Club came out sometime in July,1987. At this stage Maharlika Tennis club with more than 30 active members established the club’s Rules & regulations/ by-laws, assisted by Atty. Juanito Espinosa a previous member. MTC had been able to organised an Annual NSW Open Tennis Tournaments for five years in row from 1990 to 1995. Amongst of the tournament winners were MTC’s Benjie Gabriel who held the single title for 3 years in a row including 2 titles in doubles event. One double title was won by the Benitez Brothers- Ross and Gerry , one single title won by Jim Clauna and then Mikko Roldan the last singles winner in 1995, also won the doubles with Joel Clauna. MTC had organised the all-Filipino clubs against the Italian’s Marconi tennis ass’n challenge for four years in which PATAS had dominated the last 3years event. Maharlika Tennis club had also supported the Fairfield FILCOS annual fiesta by organising an events to all tennis enthusiastic players in the community. These events had ceased in 1996 to give way for our numerous activities provided annually by PATAS, Incorporated.
Unfortunately the Maharlika Tennis club has to split sometime early in 1997 as the other halves of the club including the new elected president had decided not to support PATAS, Inc. anymore due to their unrealistic principles and reasonings.
P-MTC has 4 permanent court bookings - 3 hardcourts and 1 synthetic court at Auburn Tennis Centre (Berala-Carramar Tennis Club) Corner Wellington and Chisholm Road, Auburn. * Every Sunday Morning From 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. FEES - Membership fee $20.00 (Non-refundable) upon admission and $ 15.00 Monthly Dues thereafter.
* Every Friday night from 7:30 to 10:30 PM at Brenan Street Brenan Park, Smithfield / Wetherill Park FEES - $ 5.00 per session.
