Blacktown Tennis Club

The Blacktown Tennis Club (BTC)
An affiliated club of PATAS, Inc.

The Blacktown Tennis Club is an established tennis club affiliated with the Philippine Australia Tennis Association of Sydney, Inc. and caters to the tennis needs of Filipino-Australian tennis enthusiasts in the Western Sydney area of the State of New South Wales.

BTC has been in existence since 1982, although only as a tennis group in the early years, until its formation into a tennis club in 1989. Amongst its original founders and members were Fernan Cruz, Manolo Patacsil, Rex Granada and Tony Tyrrel. For over a decade, the Blacktown Tennis Club was quite prominent in supporting and hosting the interstate event between Sydney and Melbourne, now on its 17th year, and one of the major activities of PATAS. Through the years, it assisted in developing a number of international, national and state-ranked junior tennis players of Filipino-Australian background.

Playing Schedule

The Blacktown Tennis Club has 3 synthetic grass courts booked from 7.30pm to 11.15pm every Friday at the Blacktown & District Hardcourt Tennis Association's tennis centre located at Balmoral St., Blacktown. The appointed court captain control all activities and schedule of play during the evening.

Another permanent Wednesday night booking for members is also available from 7.30pm to 11.15pm at the same venue or at Alpha Tennis Centre, Alpha Park, Blacktown.

Who may apply for membership?

Any person of good morale background and with a reasonable playing standard (subject to assessment and endorsement by the Executive and Technical Committee) may apply for membership of the Club. The Club, however, has a provision to accept non-playing members, subject to rules governing this type of membership.

What is expected of a member?

Members of the club are expected to participate and share in the club's tennis commitments and social activities as well as in the club's undertakings relevant to its affiliation with the Philippine Australian Tennis Association of Sydney, Inc.

The Club has its own Constitution and By-Laws which govern its objectives and activities in detail.

Fees (as at January 1998)

Joining Fee: A joining fee of $20.00 must be paid by a new member upon admission to the Club, plus

Membership Fee: A Membership Fee of $24.00 per month to be paid in advance no later than the first week of an applicable month, or $7.00 per Friday/$5.00 per Wednesday appearance.

Both Joining Fee and Membership Fee once paid in advance are not refundable.
