- Singer's
'Perpendicular Action' called "the first
pratical sewing machine", 1851-58 (19Kb)
- Singer
'Family' was the first machine built for family use,
also known as the 'Turtleback Machine, it was produced in
limited numbers from 1858-1861. (17Kb)
- 'Transverse
Shuttle Machine' Letter 'A' was the second machine
for family use - 1859-1865. (19Kb)
- Singer's
'New Family' is nicknamed the "Fiddlebed"
because of the base design. This was machine #3 for the
family. Manufactured from 1865 - 1883, it was replaced by
the "Improved Family" (24Kb)
- 'Vibratory

- Singer's
'15-30' uses an oscillating shuttle to form a lock
stitch and is shown in #5336 oak cabinet, circa 1905.

- Models
'24-51' top, and 28-4, bottom. The 24 is a
chainstitch machine, the 28 has a long shuttle. Circa

- Singer's
'24-50' was the simplest form of sewing machine made
by Singer. Having no bobbin or upper tension to adjust,
it sews a chainstitch when threaded. 1913. (23Kb)
- Model
'27-4' in cabinet #5337. This machine uses a long
vibrating shuttle and forms a lock stitch. Circa 1898. My
favorite machine, 'cause I've got one ;-} (21Kb)

- Model
'127-3' is similar to the '27-4' with the exception
of the postition of the bobbin winder. The length of the
bed of a '127' is 14 5/8", while that of a '128' is
12 5/32". At least 9 variations of each model were
built with up to 6 ornamentation options available for
each. Many parts of the '27', '28', '127' and '128' are

- Singer Model
58-11 is an automatic commercial shank button
machine. Circa 1923 (25Kb)
- Singer
Model 66 uses a oscillating hook and a drop in bobbin
to form a lock stitch. One of Singer's longest lived
models, it is the 'big-brother' to the '99' series. Most
parts are interchangeable with the '99' and '185' series

- Singer
Model 66 in #6185 five drawer walnut cabinet, circa

- Singer's
'115-1' in a #76 table. This machine uses a rotary
hook to form a lock stitch. 1913. (23Kb)
- The Famous
'Featherweight' or model 221 was manufactured from
the late '30's to the mid 60's. Weighing 11 pounds, it is
a favorite with quilters. A free arm version (222) was
made in limited quantities and is collectable. (15Kb)
