SHOWTIME R/C Race #3

NORRCA'S 1998 Paved Oval series made its first trip to Bakersfield'sSHOWTIME R/C SPEEDWAYthis past weekend.
El Niņo looked as it may be a factor again, with the skys cloudy and rain looked very possible.
Showtime is a fast, short high banked concrete oval. Setup is trick here, but for the ones who have it down, it is very fast.
ERTRACHTER Wins!
Expert Modified Daryl Silva set the qualifying pace this weekend with three laps on the field. Silva qualified with a 49/4:03.53, while second place had a 46/4:01.28. The story was written a little different in the main however, with Jason Ertrachter taking his first series win of the season. Following Ertrachter was Derek Povah, Duane Silva, John (Dr.J) Ligons, and rounding out the top five was Roger Pane.
Second time Around
Modified Nastruck Joe Myers tq'd for the Modified truck class for the third straight race, and picked up his second consecutive series race win. Rounding out the top three were Tom Kendall, and John Hobson.
Dyer pulls one off
Expert Stock
Victor Garcia set the pace in qualifying with a run of 44/4:03.64, but in the main it was Mike Dyer who pulled out the victory. While Garcia finished in second and the third spot went to Arnold Brittian. Brian Bond, Larry Ruby, Buck Van Patten, Brian Blaser, Roland Chavarry, David Souza, Tony Gammel made up the top ten finishers.
Sportsman WIN goes to Nalley
Sportsman Modified
It was Andy Jacobsen just narrowly beating out Todd Nalley for the top qualifying in sportsman modified, Jacobsen's 42/4:03 to Nalley's 42/4:04. In the main, however it was Todd Nalley won this his first series race of 98. Jacobsen ended up second, with Cortney Able, Tim Price and John Hobson making up the top five spots.

Ed Turney took the top quailfying spot and went on to win the main as well. Turney was able to hold off Roy Nesvold who finished second, Ron Scott, Sam Choloupka and Craig Kaplan made up the top 5 spots.
