Golden State Tire Shredders

1999 NORRCA Paved Oval Series
Race #3

Story and Photos by Joe Myers

Saturday, Apr. 17

NORRCA's Paved Oval Series, getting back to the roots of R/C racing held race #3 of the Series in Encino in this "Park and Ride".  The location is the regular home for the Golden State Tire Shredders.

This was probably one of the funnest races I have attended in years, and reminded me of the races from nearly 15 years ago.

Raphel and the Tire Shredders did a great job on making the track compatible to the OVAL cars, most of the races held here are road course touring car events.

Warren Pratt, TQ'd for his 3rd straight rookie race, and went on to beat Matt Kendall for the win.

The ROOKIE class has been started to give drivers a chance to get into paved oval racing, and try their hand. Hopefully as time goes on, this class will grow and help bring in a "new" crop of racers. NORRCA only charges 1/2 of the normal entry fee for this class, so come out and try YOUR hand and join in the fun.
