Obsolete P5 Models

Spot-On, by Triang.

Spot-On made a model of the 3 litre saloon, in two versions. One had normal interior and lamp treatments, the other had working lamps!

Spot-On P5 Saloon

A battery operated light box fed light via perspex rods to the headlamps and tail lamps, and a revised interior masked this arrangement from above.

Made in 1:43 scale, in a variety of colours; these are a welcome but rare find on the swap meet circuit.

Minor Motorcars / Pathfinder.

Handbuilt 3.5 litre coupe models, made by Pathfinder for Minor Motorcars BV of Amsterdam in 1990. A limited edition of 300, with 100 for the UK market finished in Admiralty Blue with a Silver Birch roof. The remaining 200 were LHD versions in different colours for other markets.

1:43 scale, very rare and very, very expensive (£500+)!

Eko / Anguplas

This is the smallest of the known models, being made of plastic in 1:86 scale. Made in Spain originally by Anguplas, but later sold as EKO .

This would be a rare find at a UK swapmeet, but they do turn up from time to time on Ebay. Expect to pay around £15 / £20.

Revell

The only known plastic construction kit of the P5, this was catalogued as H900 in the 1:46 "Cadet" series of the early 1960s.

This plastic kit made up a 1961 3 litre saloon, with a base colour of black, with chrome trims. The box art indicates the car is a Mark 1 variant.

This was a difficult model to build, as the windows had to be formed out of flat, uncut cellulloid film. Not an easy proposition given the wrap around screens of the P5. It was beyond my capabilities as a 12 year old anyway!

Built or unopened, this kit would be a rare find today.
