Thurgoland is a small village on the edge of the Pennines Approximately 10 miles north of Sheffield, 6 Miles South West of Barnsley.
I'ts primary industries in days gone by were:- Farming, Coal mining and Wire Drawing.
The River Don runs along the South West border, this is where the wire mills were situated.
