Jerry Brownell and Jim Windsor met while they were both attending Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI (Also known as 'Rally U') At the time, the area hosted the Press on Regardless Pro Rally, known today as the Lake Superior Pro Rally. After a few seasons as volunteers at the rally, Jerry and Jim graduated to reporting on the rally for WHUH-FM, the local radio station where they both worked. At the last rally they saw before graduating from college, they both decided "hey....we could do that!" and decided to start their own rally team.

However, other matters came first. Things like starting a career, getting married, and starting a family. Rallying was soon all but forgotten. Fast forward to October of 1999. Jerry was visiting Houghton, and didn't even realize that the 1999 LSPR was going on that weekend. He drove into town right into the middle of the chaos, and the urge to rally hit again. A few days later the phone at Jim's house rang. "Yo, Jim, it's Jerry...wanna rally?" "Sure!" That was all it took.

The next step, of course, was a car. Looking for a used rally car to start the team with, Jerry and Jim looked at standard cars such as VW's and Audi's. However, Jerry found a rather non-standard rally car for sale: a 1983 Chevy Citation.

Jerry immediately knew what car it was. While attending Michigan Tech, he owned an '81 Citation, and it had the nasty habit of the rear end wanting to be ahead of the front end on the icy, snow covered roads of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. When Gail Hoult showed up at the 1988 P.O.R. in her 1983 Citation, Jerry and Jim looked at her car and laughed. "She'll never make it in that!" they thought. Gail had the last laugh, though. Not only did she finish, she came in 3rd place in Open Class and 17th place overall.

Jerry lives in Gobels, Michigan, with his cat Argon, and is a Sales Applications Engineer for Leuco Tool Corporation. Jim Windsor lives in Fern Park, Florida, is married to Margaret, and they have two children, Judy and Tom. Jim is a Communications Systems Engineer for M/A-Com Wireless.
