Founders Brewing Company was born on the banks of the Grand River, just north of the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Specializing in hand-crafted ales and lagers, each has its own distinct personality to explore.

The first of four beers was brewed in 1997. Although distribution was limited, word spread quickly. In August of 1998, our Taproom opened, which allowed the public to watch the brewing and bottling process, all while enjoying a fresh, hand-crafted Founders creation.

By early 2000, we had expanded our original lineup, and distribution expanded throughout the state. Today, Founders is one of the most requested craft beers in Michigan and surrounding areas. You can find Founders anywhere great beer is sold.
