RESULTS!
Team YO! Returned home to Michigan's upper penninsula for the Ottawa Challenge and Keweenaw Challenge ClubRallys, held in conjunction with the Lake Superior Pro Rally in Houghton, MI on October 20th and 21st. The team went into the weekend in 3rd place in the Central Division G5 Championship, and prepared for a 4-way shootout for second place.
The team started out Friday afternoon heading south of Houghton for the Ottawa Challenge Clubrally held in the woods of the Ottawa National Forest. Trouble began to show up early for the team, when they started Stage 1 to discover that the Odometer was intermittent. A mis-jugded turn halfway through the stage found the team hitting the bumper on a bank and spinning the car in the stage. The team recovered, and headed to the start of stage 2, to discover that the night lighting, which is mounted to the front bumper, was pointing at the ground. The team started into the stage at dusk, and started to encounter hanging dust. 4 miles into the stage, a left turn where the treeline went straight caught the team off guard, and with too much speed going into the corner, the car went off the road head-first into a tree.
As a result, the team DNF'ed for Friday night's ClubRally, and after inspection of the damage, they decided it would not be possible to start for Saturday's Clubrally. The two DNF's left the team in 5th place in the Central Division G5 championship.
