Technical Author and Manager of Authors Department. Responsible for all the company’s written and online documentation and the introduction of desktop publishing. Also wrote many of the company’s technical reference manuals and user guides and created product reference cards.

Jan 1981 – July 1983

Synapse Computer Services

Systems Engineer for VM and VSE mainframe systems. Responsibilities included system upgrades, hardware planning and installation, problem resolution and general technical support consultancy.

Alexander Duckham & Co. Ltd

Technical Support Manager. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the VSE based mainframe system. Planning and implementation of new hardware, operating system upgrades and online user systems.

Jan 1978 – June 1979

Price Waterhouse

DP Consultant performing a variety of clients tasks both in the UK and abroad. Major projects included the design of a new accounts system for a news gathering service, design of an invoicing system for an overseas airline, and the selection of the in-house word processing system for Price Waterhouse’s head office. Also performed a number of technical site audits and a variety of statistical analyses.

Alexander Duckham & Co. Ltd

Many positions starting from operator, through shift leader, programmer and project leader with all the responsibilities and duties those positions imply. Instrumental in the relocation of the computer installation from London to Kent, along with the implementation of a new machine. Designed and implemented the company’s real-time customer update system and was also responsible for coding much of the online order entry system.
