New Anticancer Drug R115777 and Gemcitabine (Gemzar) Chemotherapy in the Treatment of Advanced Cancer
Phase I Study of R115777 with Gemcitabine in Patients with Advanced Cancer
R115777 is a member of a new class of anti-cancer drugs called farnesyltransferase inhibitors. This class of drugs is unlike any current chemotherapy drug. They target a group of proteins called "ras proteins" that are present in many different types of cancer. "Ras proteins" are felt to play critical roles in the growth of cancer cells. R115777 and other farnesyltransferase inhibitor drugs may be able to interfere with this critical cancer protein and may provide a new and novel way to treat cancer

Oxaliplatin
He is being taken off the Oxaliplatin because of substantial neuropathy. The doctor does not want
the neuropathy to become irreversible. I have read that most patients are on Oxaliplatin for an average time of
7.5 months, which is right where we are at.
