West Coast of Ireland - Self-catering holidays in a traditional Irish farm cottage.
Derryaun
is a tastefully restored, stone-built farm cottage in an idyllic
rural setting near Westport, Co Mayo on the West coast of Ireland,
with panoramic views of the Partry and Sheefry Mountains and Croagh
Patrick, Irelands Holy Mountain.
Derryaun retains all the character and charm of a traditional Irish cottage, with a turf-burning stove, open fires and antique furnishings, while providing the modern comforts of a fully fitted kitchen, programmed electric heating and a sauna.
DERRYAUN is well away from public roads, yet only 9 miles south of the thriving town of Westport.(map ref:F7)

DERRYAUN is a superb base for walking or cycling in MAYO and CONNEMARA; spectacular mountain roads lead to miles of unspoilt coastline including four Blue Flag beaches.
Sea and river angling, horse-riding and golf are all available nearby.
WESTPORT has night-life to suit all tastes, including a superb range of restaurants and bars with contemporary and traditional music - Matt Molloys bar is internationally renowned for its nightly traditional Irish sessions. More simply, Breslin's Bar, in Drummin village is a true 'local'.

Bridgestone 100
Best Places to stay in Ireland 1994
DERRYAUN was run very successfully as a 'Vegetarian Bed & Breakfast' by the previous owners and attracted many repeat visitors, as well as high praise in two well known publications:
- Bridgestone 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland 1994:
'Derryaun is a lovely little cottage.....it has been tenderly restored to create a sense of peace and relaxation, a sense of escapism which entirely suits this wild, organic environment. Derryaun is not so far from the bright lights of Westport, but you could find yourself here, walking and hiking and slowly driving around and about the environs of the cottage, and think you were a million miles from anywhere that boasted trippery tourists or the gee-gaws of the modern age.'
'Derryaun is not some slick little episode which is part of the people business: it is a thoughtful consoling cottage, a place apart.'
- THE ROUGH GUIDE to IRELAND:
'...three quarters of a mile up a track is one of the best places to stay in these parts; the Derryaun vegetarian B&B.'
