EQUIPMENT EDITORS
From a stalwart member of the "General" series games and JP's forums, comes this excellent Windows-based equipment editor for PacGen. For the first time since the release of the game in 1997, the Armory can recomend an equipment editor that is better than SSI's built-in editor. This has all the features the Armory wished was available when the massive changing of over 1,000 units was needed. Two thumbs up from the Armory on this one... if you need to change any equipment stats (and why would you if you use the Armory E-file), then this is your best bet! Version 2.01 now allows description fields to be edited! Thank Carl Johan Ankerstjerne for this contribution.
Progi's PacGen Equipment Editor v2.01 (1.7MB)
The first "stand-alone" unit equipment editor for Pacific General is now available. This handy tool allows users to tweak the Pacific General Equipment Roster to thier own preferances. This is a "pre-release" version. Thank Bruce Jensen for this contribution.

MISCELANEOUS EDITORS
Another great product from our friend Progi! This PFP Tool allows you to pull out glossary descriptions created in Progi's Equipment Editor for distribution to other computers... Though not an editor itself, it helps pull out and update PFP files in PacGen, including Flag and Icon graphic files. Version 2.4 now includes much improved instructions on how to use this tool. Thank Carl Johan Ankerstjerne for this contribution.
Progi's PacGen PFP Tool v2.4 (1.5MB)
Yet another great product from our friend Progi! The Range Modifier Editor allows PacGen scenario designers to change the range multiplier in any scenario (SSI or homemade) used by naval forces. Got a small scale map? Want to make battleships fire three times their range? With this editor, it's a simple click away! Use this editor whenever you need to change the range of ships in either stand alone scenarios or campaign scenarios. New to v2.0 is the ability to alter scenario start and end dates! Thank Carl Johan Ankerstjerne for this contribution.

CAMPAIGN EDITORS
This is one of the biggies that 5-star series fans have been waiting for... at last, a campaign editor that allows users to create their own campaign games either from scratch, or from pre-existing scenarios. This editor not only allows you to modify existing Pacific Theatre campaigns, but you can create brand new ones! If you're using the Armory Equipment Roster and PacMap Editor, than you can create campaigns in any theatre of war and with any nation as the focus (US, German, Japanese, Russian, British, French, Italian, you name it!). This special version of the Campaign Editor now includes expanded instructions not found on other websites! Thank Bill Haering for this contribution.
Download Pacific General Campaign Editor 1.05 (504kb - 28 May 05)
A must-have companion program to the excellent Campaign Editor, this program allows campaign designers the option to alter and edit the in-game scenario briefings for custom campaigns. Relatively simple to use, you can easily alter the briefing text files and enclose them with your custom campaigns! Enclosed in this file are hints and tips on how to use it properly! Thank Fred Chlanda for this contribution.

MAP EDITORS
PacMap is a graphical utility that allows the creation or editing of maps for Pacific General. Amongst the many features of this program, some of the more notable things it can do are: Rough maps may be generated from bitmap sketches; Pacific General map files can be loaded, modified, and saved; Terrain types can be modified; scenario place names and positions can be changed & Coastlines, connected roads and rivers can be drawn automatically. Newly released 0.50b includes new features, such as saving your map as a BMP file, and most importantly is the ability to permanently edit/add/delete place/city names on custom maps with the click of a mouse! Make sure to run this program in 16-bit color (it won't run in 32-bit color). Thank Fred Chlanda for this contribution.

For those using PacMap, if you're fond of the mouse auto-scroll feature, you've been missing it with PacMap, for it doesn't normally allow for autoscrolling. This patch for PacMap reinstates the mouse auto-scroll feature to PacMap. Download this handy patch for PacMap and enjoy! Thank Bruce Jensen for this contribution.

MapEd is an older map editing program for PacGen, and pre-dates PacMap. It is not graphically driven, but it does include features not found in the original PacMap v.44. The most important of which is the ability to custom name any location on a PacGen map, such as cities, ports, rivers, etc. This small program used to make a good companian to PacMap, and allows for complete customization of any map you may make! However, since the release of PacMap v.50b, this tool's usefulness is diminished. MapEd has been updated as-of Dec 2000 to include the needed QBasic file. Thank Bill Haering for this contribution.

For those of you who have been wanting extra maps (especially from the original Panzer General & Allied General) to use with the Battle Generator, the files below will add ALL 77 maps from the previous "General" games that were missing from Pacific General. Used in conjunction with the Armory Equipment Unit Roster provided in the Armory Equipment Report, this makes it very easy to either recreate any of your favorite scenarios from PG & AG, or to create new European scenarios to your tastes. Note that these maps are identical to PG1 & AG, but are rough drafts that do need some polishing work in PacMap. Still, it's a BIG head start. Thank Bill Haering for this contribution.

GRAPHICAL EDITOR
Another great product from our friend Progi! This PFP Tool allows you to pull out glossary descriptions created in Progi's Equipment Editor for distribution to other computers... it is also REQUIRED to use this tool to install the latest Armory E-Roster glossary description updates... without this tool, you can't do a full install of the latest Armory Roster (with glossary descriptions). Though not an editor itself, it helps pull out and update PFP files in PacGen, including Flag and Icon graphic files. Thank Carl Johan Ankerstjerne for this contribution.
Progi's PacGen PFP Tool v2.3 (1.5MB)
The PFP Tool is a utility for v1.1 of SSI's Pacific General that allows importing and exporting of files contained within SSI's *.pfp archives. These *.pfp files contain a large number of files within themselves such as unit icons, game graphics, various text files, terrain graphics, palettes, etc. This tool will allow you access to pretty much all the graphics in PacGen, allowing users to change nearly any graphic to their own wishes and desires. Thank Bruce Jensen for this contribution.

GRAPHICAL UPDATES
ATLANTIC TOUR? Yes, with this mod-pack, you can change all the Japanese graphics in the game to German ones! If you find yourself mainly playing scenarios or campains based in Europe, it seems awful silly to be seeing nothing but rising suns and samurai warriors every turn, doesn't it? Download and install this Atlantic Tour modpack, and start seeing German graphics instead of Japanese ones! This mod makes changes to the graphics and installs the German Z-Plan & Clash of Eagles campaigns (replacing the SSI Pacific-based Japanese & American campaigns). Use this mod in conjunction with any European-based scenarios or campaigns you play or build! (if you have another European Axis or Allied campaign, just install it over the German Z-Plan or American Clash of Eagles campaign) Thank the Armory Webmaster for this contribution.

Another patch targeted at people who prefer a more "European" look to their games. This patch has a number of features, including a change in color to Axis strength number backgrounds and many icon changes/improvements, sound changes, a night-turn toggler and more. The patch requires Pacific General v1.1 and The PFP Tool v1.01. Thank Bruce Jensen for this contribution.
Pacific General Euro Patch v1.0 (349kb)
Ever notice huge black rectangles taking over your PacGen fortification hexes if you see snow and night turns at the same time? This "bug" of PacGen occurs when the above conditions happen. Now this may not happen often in Pacific General when you are playing in the Pacific (unless you never updated to v1.1 and play on Iwo Jima), but if you spend much time with European scenarios, this can happen more often than not. This patch fixes the snow problem, but does not change anything else, so even if you don't deal with much snow, there is no reason not to install this patch! Thank Fred Chlanda for this contribution.

Okay, so in and of itself, this isn't a neither a graphical update nor anything that changes the game at all. However, I'm sticking this here because it does deal with the game graphics. This file contains a BMP picture of ALL original and v3.X current Armory Icons that are in the game. Either look at this file for it's "gee-whiz" factor, or if you want to tinker with the in-game icons this is a great way to get a feeling of what slot# is what icon! Thank the Armory Webmaster for this contribution.

ORDER OF BATTLE
To make the most of the maps provided on this page, a complete list of the "Order of Battle" (OBS) for each scenario in Panzer General & Allied General are compiled below. (For those not "savy" to grognard talk, Order of Battles are listings of all units and equipment participating in a given battle... the below list also includes starting locations.) This file will be a great aid to anyone wishing to recreate any PG or AG scenarios... the file comes in excel spreadsheet format. Contributed by Bill Haering whose e-mail is listed below.

NO-CD CRACK INSTRUCTIONS
For those wishing to play their retail CD versions of PacGen without the CD, there is now an easy way to do so. Simply copy your "SMACK" directory from your PacGen CD to the PacGen directory on your hard-drive. Ensure you are running version 1.1 of PacGen, then download the the "abandonware" v1.1 file from the Armory Update page. Inside that zip, you'll find the "PACGCRK.EXE" file. Extract that file to your main PacGen directory, run it, and install the PacGen crack... you'll now be able to play PacGen without the CD on your retail version of PacGen!
SCENARIO CREATION HELP
Many people like to create their own scenarios & campaigns for PacGen but often run into problems using some of the excellent programs offered on the Armory. To make things easier, the Armory has compiled a word file explaining many useful tips on how to use the differant editors found here, and some general scenario-making advice ranging from tips on how to make a good map, to using SSI's Battle Generator's more advanced features like the AI bucket. Updated 5 Jul 01. Provided by Steve Strayer as a service for fellow PacGen'ers.

Some scenarios in SSI's default scenarios include what's known as "range modifiers" for naval vessels. This allows ships to fire double or triple their normal range during ship to ship and/or shore bombardment actions. Until now, nobody has been able to duplicate this process for custom scenarios. Using the tips explained in this word document (if you need a word reader, one is provided below), you can now modify custom scenarios to include naval range modifiers. Note that some hex editing will be required, so if this scares you, don't bother!

CAMPAIGN CREATION HELP
Many people like to create their own campaigns for PacGen but often run into problems using some of the excellent programs offered here... the Armory has heard of many would-be campaign designers having problems dealing with proper use of the Campaign Editor. To make things easier, the Armory has compiled a Word file explaining many useful tips on how to use the Campaign Editor to the logical end of making a campaign... this same file is now included in the download of the Campaign Editor, so if you've downloaded the Campaign Editor on or after 28 Mar 04, you already have this file. Provided by Steve Strayer as a service for fellow PacGen'ers.

For budding campaign designers, often one of the trickiest problems is figuring out exactly how many core units of ground, air and naval forces to allow per scenario, without making the core forces too small or too big. The Armory has completed a list of the three most popular PacGen campaigns, SSI's American, SSI's Japanese and the Armory's own Z-Plan & CoE that contain a flow chart of each campaign and the core unit totals for ground/air and naval forces. Use this chart as a guideline based on your favorite campaign to correctly determine how many core units you'd like in your own campaign. This is a JPG, if you'd like a Word version of this same chart, download the CampEd program file which has been updated with the flow chart as-of 8 Feb 05.

VIEWERS
Many files on the Armory often contain either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel format files that are not viewable to those who don't own any version of Microsoft Office. For those still wishing to view these files, you can download the FREE viewers for both Word and Excel right here. These are freeware files and not only view said files on the screen, but can also print them out... they are good for Word and Excel '97 through 2000, so download them now if you need to!
