IGNITION

One of the simplest ways to add more power and improved
timing accuracy is electronic ignition.

Scout IIs came with a Holley points type distibuter until 75.
The tried and trued points was replaced with a electronic
unit. The e.c.m. or electronic control module was mounted
on the firewall. This unit was good but failed from poor parts
and was replaced in 77 with the self contained Prestolite. The three wire installation goes as follows:
red wire...... + side of the coil
black wire......- side of the coil
tan wire......harness to the vacume deseleration valve mounted
on the firewall. The tan wire is often unused if on a earlier
truck. This will not harm the electronic unit.
