Did you know that by adding a clutch fan you can
increase your power by about 5 ponies. A clutch fan
provides less resistance and runs cooler than a fixed
blade fan.
Check your vacume advance. Often the vacume diaphram
is ruptured and you will not know it due to the centrifical
advance. By replacing your bad vacume diaphram you
can restore some lost power and possably gain better milage.
Carb spacers have been used for years. By using just a 1"
spacer a noticable gain can be felt. The spacer is installed
below the carb and provides a more dense fuel mixture
thanks to the higher rise in the manifold.
The factory sets the timing at T.D.C or 0 degrees I recommend
that you advance the timing to 12 degrees. The timing will depend
a lot on the drivetrain configuration.Example: 304 auto3.07 gears
and 33" tires. The truck is undergeared and advancing the timing
will only cause the motor to ping .My truck has a built 345
with 4.88 gears and I have the motor running about 20 degrees
at Idle during racing season.
