Nick gets bad news from Dr. Caspary.
Nick, Ridge and Brooke (who is carrying baby Jack) rush Katie to the hospital. Dr. Caspary is waiting and quickly begins an ultrasound. As Nick stands vigil with her, Katie anxiously asks the doctor how the baby is. The doctor regretfully tells Katie that she had a miscarriage. As Katie starts to cry, the doctor explains that the fetus was not viable, most likely due to the medications Katie was taking. "My baby is gone," Katie weeps as the doctor says that she's sorry. As the doctor leaves, Nick sits on the bed and gives Katie a reassuring hug. Nick assures her that they'll get through this, but Katie weeps that their precious baby is gone. Katie blames herself, since she decided to carry the baby to term. Nick tells her that this isn't her fault and suggests that this might turn out to be a blessing. "How can you say that?" Katie asks, pointing out that he lost everything because of her. Nick reminds her that he didn't lose her, although he might have had she carried the baby to term. Katie tells him that he's free now, wondering if that's how it was meant to be. Nick tells her that he wasn't with her because of the baby and says that they'll just be grateful that they still have Jack. "We're going to be there for him," he pledges. Katie asks if Brooke is still there. When Nick says she is, Katie asks if Brooke can bring Jack in.

Brooke and Ridge get bad news from the doctor.
In the hall, Dr. Caspary tells Ridge and Brooke that Katie lost the baby. Ridge gives Brooke a reassuring kiss on the head as Brooke holds Jack tightly. They then sit down in the waiting room and discuss Katie's loss. Brooke finds it ironic that she brought Jack into their lives on the same day her sister lost the baby. Watching Brooke hold Jack, Ridge tells her, "Taylor was right; you are Jack's mother." Nick comes over, so Ridge offers his condolences. Nick thanks him and tells Brooke that Katie wants to see her - and Jack. Brooke asks if that's a good idea given that Katie just lost her baby. Nick says it's what Katie wants, so Brooke takes Jack into the room.

Katie wants to hold Jack.
Brooke enters Katie's room and assures her sobbing baby sister that they're all there for her. Katie tells Brooke that Nick still wants to be with her, even after they lost the baby. Katie cries that Jack will still be part of her life and asks if she can hold him. Brooke hands the tot over. "Thank God for you, my baby, my sweet boy" Katie sobs as Brooke looks on with concern.

Thorne and Felicia beg their mother to talk to their dad.
At the Forrester mansion, Thorne and Felicia ask Stephanie if it's true that Eric is giving Donna a second chance as Donna claimed. Stephanie replies that she doesn't know, as she hasn't talked to Eric yet. The kids want to talk to their dad now to get the scoop, but Stephanie suggests that they think this through first. Thorne worries that Donna might have talked Eric into doing something crazy.

Stephanie reassures her children.
Stephanie assures her children that she won't let Donna take advantage of Eric again. She tells the kids that she doesn't want to get into this thing with Donna again, so Felicia offers to take the lead instead. Thorne thinks Felicia's idea is a good one. Stephanie wonders if her kids have a point and says that she has an idea about how to set things straight. As she heads for the door, Thorne asks where she's going. "Hopefully to protect your father," Stephanie answers as she heads out the door.

Owen tells Donna that he'll never stop loving her.
On the Forrester rooftop sky lounge, Marcus asks one of the shipping clerks to notify him as soon as an important shipment comes in. Donna comes up to the roof and tells Marcus that Eric hasn't asked her for a divorce yet, so she hopes she can still save her marriage. Marcus tells his mom to hang in there and heads down the shipping office. Donna sits down at a table just as Owen comes up and tells her that he was just fired. Donna asks why he's surprised. Owen tells her that he can handle losing his job, but he can't handle losing her. Donna tells him yet again that she's grateful for his saving her life, but she wants to return to her marriage. Owen can't believe that she wants to stay with a man that's old enough to be her father out of loyalty, especially since Eric has Stephanie now. He urges Donna to do what's right for her, but she insists that being with Eric is what's right. "I'm not staying with him out of guilt. I'm staying with him out of love," she asserts, urging Owen to accept that it's over between them. Unwilling to talk about this any more, she gets up and walks over to the water bar. Owen follows and says he'll accept this if it's what she wants, but he's still worried because Pam is still out there. Donna says she'll be fine, but Owen says he'll never stop loving her. Donna turns away and leaves the rooftop.

Marcus gets a warning from Thorne.
Later, Marcus returns to the roof. Thorne comes up and angrily asks Marcus why he isn't unloading the shipment from Asia. Marcus tells Thorne to chill, as the shipment isn't there yet. Thorne takes offense to Marcus talking to his supervisor that way and reminds the young man that the Forresters are back in charge, ready to undo the damage done by Donna when she ran things. As Thorne fumes about the respect the company lost with the buyers and the press thanks to Donna, Marcus retorts that Thorne and his family disrespected Donna as well, pointing out that Donna is still Mrs. Eric Forrester. "Not for long," Thorne snipes, telling Marcus to get used to the changes around here now that the Forresters are back.

Donna tells Thorne to support his father.
Donna comes up and asks what's going on. When Marcus says that he and Thorne were having a discussion, Donna figures out what the topic was and asks Thorne if he loves his father. Thorne says that he does, so Donna asks him to prove it by supporting his father and giving Eric the space he needs, like she is. Thorne gripes that Donna is only giving Eric space because he demanded it. "I'm not pressuring him and neither should you," Donna counters, but Thorne doesn't believe her and warns her to back off if she knows what's good for her. Thinking that sounds like a threat, Marcus sticks up for his mom, but before the two men can go at it, Marcus gets word that the shipment from Asia came in and goes to unload it. Donna asks to see the samples from the shipment as soon as they're unloaded. As Marcus and his co-worker leave, Thorne shakes his head and smirks as Donna glares back at him.

A snake pops out of the crate.
Minutes later, Marcus and two of his co-workers bring a crate up to the roof and wheel it over to Donna. Marcus tells her that these are the shoe samples she's been expecting. Donna explains that these are part of the new line. As Donna eagerly comes to check them out, she's being watched from a nearby roof through a pair of binoculars. "You steal my sister's husband, huh?" Pam hisses from behind the binoculars. Donna is about to open the crate, but she gets a call from the executive floor and stops to take it. "You think you could just slither your way back into Eric's life? Today, you die!" Pam whispers as she continues to watch Donna. Marcus opens the crate and suddenly a huge snake pops out and bites him!

Pam watches from a distance.
As Marcus drops to the floor, Donna and several employees rush to his side. As Donna kneels beside her son, calling his name, Stephanie comes to the roof. She watches as Donna cries out for someone to call 911. As a female employee makes the call, Donna keeps calling out for Marcus to answer. Suddenly she realizes, "Oh, my god - it's Pam!" Meanwhile, Pam puts down her binoculars and watches from the nearby roof.
