2008 MILLCREEK GIANT ROUND ROBIN
ERIE, PA APRIL 13, 2008

The noteworthy story from this year's tournament was that only the early birds got into the tournament. We sold out almost 2 weeks before the date and we had a waiting list of 13. Don' t know why this occurred- the date was favorable, the players like giant RR's, the wonderful Erie weather??

Anyway 84 players competed on 20 tables in our quirky split groups of 12 format, leading to prize money awarded to fully half of all entrants. All divisional winners received $100 or more for their efforts. In the top division, #1 seed Randy Seemiller of Pittsburgh and #2 seed Yong Ren of Buffalo remained undefeated to set up the final match for 1st place. Ren has dominated this tournament since moving to Buffalo in 2006, but Seemiller's game has rebounded recently, and, working hard, Seemiller ground out a 3-1 win over Ren to capture first place.
