Here is a simple test. Go to a DIY or Tool Hire Centre and talk to them about what is on offer. Some of this equipment wasn't even invented when that old safe of yours was made. It may be a fine defence against the opportunist thief, off the street and with seconds to grab what they can and run. Give them two uninterrupted minutes and a reasonable drill or some cold chisels and a hammer, and estimate how "safe" those valuables really are. Here's a clue. They're not.
