SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 11 February 2000

With the new millenium now upon us I thought I would reflect back on the results from the latter part of the last thousand years, namely 1999, as to who won CCs and who became new Champions in the last year. I am indebted to Daphne Parnham for providing me the information. For the dogs, the following have won CCs: Daxlore Mirage at Fernlark owned by Ms S. Steer, Ch Mumtaz Moon Magic, owned by Mrs M. Bryce-Smith, Daxlore Miabile, owned by Mrs H Graham, El Hamrah Mehrab-Khalifa owned by Mr & Mrs C.M. Williams and Mrs R.M.C Redfern, Sedeki Darr-Darr owned by Mr D. Wieden & Mr F. Farrar, Dekhilak Ajilan owned by Mrs C Norvell, Ch Kasaque Hyperion of Saruk owned by Mrs M. Bryce-Smith, Ch Mabrooka Khamriy owned by Mr A MacDonald, Miskanda's Tiger Bay with Kamsun owned by Mr H Sangherra, Ms J Walker & Mr & Mrs Hamilton, Nefisa Samr owned by Mr & Mrs S J. Macro, Ch Gulzar Al-Mutakabbir owned by Mrs P. There has been one new Dog Champion and that is Ch.Minsha Mr Majestic but three other young dogs are challenging and have won two CCs each and are looking for their third. They are Daxlore Mirabile, Miskanda's Tiger Bay with Kamsun, El Hamrah Mehrab-Khalifa, and Dakilak Ajilan. 1999 has been quite an exciting year with a variety of new faces winning CCs and also for the first time in many years a Saluki puppy qualified for the "Pup of the Year" competition. Mr & Mrs K Hadfield's newly imported Baghdad Foreign Affair of Lokhandar. This was the Puppys first show after his release from quarantine and his breeders, Ron Chato and Paula Brockman-Chato made the long trip from Australia to exhibit him at his first show.

Entries are now due for the SGHC Limited Show which is being held on 19th March, 2000. Please come and support this show and don't forget that the AGM is being held in the afternoon. The venue is Weeks Drive Community Centre in Slough, Berkshire and the AGM will begin at 2:30 or at the end of judging of the Limited Show, whichever is later. I will put more details in these notes, closer to the date. As the show is only one week after Crufts, some of the overseas visitors may want to come to the show.

Marie Bryce-Smith would appreciate knowing of anyone willing to volunteer for Discovery Dogs, at Crufts. Car park tickets, entrance tickets and refreshment vouchers will be given to you and your helpers free of charge. You do not have to do a whole day. Coverage is needed for Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and afternoon and Hound Day on Sunday, all day. Marie's telephone number is 01342 327573.

The South East Hound Club is holding their Open Show on Sunday 2nd April at the Montem Leisure Centre in Slough. The Judge for Salukis is Mr Jerry Robertson (Azrams) Jerry has owned Afghans since 1968 and now also has Greyhounds. He has been judging hounds since 1976 and Salukis since 1988. Jerry is on the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club "B" List and is also on the Northern Saluki Club List. He is also on the Breed Club lists for Afghans, Basenjis, Bassets, Beagles, Irish Wolfhounds and Whippets. Also he has judge numerous B.I. S and Groups.
