Born September 10, 1983, black-masked red male, bred by Karen Wagner and Pat Kagels. Taco is the top
Speciality Winner of all-time and the #1 all time sire in the US. He has produced over 81 USA champions and there are a total of 55 AKC registered litters by Taco through 1995. He has 17 Canadian champions to his credit and 16 foreign champions. Taco was the
#1 sire in Canada in both 1989 and 1994. He produced the #1 bitch Ch. Casbar Sugan-N-Spice, for the years 1990, 1991 and 1992 and as the top speciality winning bitch in the history of the breed. Ch. Stormhill's Who's Zoomin' Who, another Taco daughter, was top bitch in 1988, top Afghan in 1989, and retired as the top-winning bitch in history with 20 all-breed Bests In Show.

Taco's performance and progress has been reported each year in the UK Afghan Hound Year Book as part of Bo Bengston's (Editor of the Afghan Hound Review) annual review of the USA scene. We have compiled the following based on the UK Afghan Hound Year Book reports.
In 1991 it was reported that Taco was destined to become a sire of great importance with offspring in more countries than any previous US sire. In 1992 it was reported that Taco had won the US National Speciality for the third time, also pointing out that only one other Afghan (and that was 50 years ago) had won the National more than twice. The same report asked the question "has any Afghan Hound sire ever had offspring winning in so many different parts of the world as Taco". In 1993 the report stated that Taco, now 10 year old was continuing to add to his impressive record and had won over 50 speciality Bests, a record itself. In 1995 the report starts of by describing Taco as "the world's most famous Afghan Hound" and he had increased his (already a record) number of Speciality wins to a total of 51. He very nearly won the National that year for what would have been an amazing fourth time.

In the UK Taco has made an impression via his Champion grandaughters who gained their titles within a week of each other in 1995 - Ch Tejas Sahaura and Ch Tejas Conquistador, the latter being the top winning bitch of 1996 who I believe has now equalled the bitch CC breed record. The UK fancy also enjoyed the stylish and exciting performance of a Taco son (imported by Liz O'connor, Renza Afghans) - Myways American Dream Of Renza
The pedigree is built around another famous USA sire - Am Ch Mecca's Falstaff, who's pedigree incidentally contains UK lines (Bletchingley) via the Scheherezade Afghans imported to the USA by Col Wally Pede. Click here for Taco's pedigree
