AFGHAN HOUND CLUB OF AMERICA

A Retrospective View Of Afghan Hounds In America 1940-1980

Excerpts from the Dog News article/review written by Deborah Lawson, AKC Hound Group and 1994 Westminster KC Afghan Hound Judge:

Since receiving a copy of this tape, I've watch it at least five times. I consider it the best "teaching" tape I've encountered through the years. It proves that one can learn an enormous amount about structure and size from simply looking at dogs and dogs and dogs and dogs from the breed under consideration. The objective is reached when a mentor and commentator like Karen Armistead narrates and explains what is before us...

Certainly, it is a "must" for people who judge, breed or own Afghans and other Sighthounds. Though the pictures are mainly stills of dogs posed and in action, interspersed with some vintage films, most taken from Westminster, the pictorial material is ingeniously utilized to show what the Afghan was and is like, and what their owners and judges were "looking for"...

It's impossible for a serious dog person to come away from a few viewings of this tape without a MUCH better understanding of Afghan structure, type and even movement.
