FAQ asked by gays

This site assumes that God exists and that the Bible is the word of God, if this is not true then "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." For articles that deal with the existence of God and the validity of the Bible see Contend for the Faith.

Q - Your site is full of lies and hatred

A - Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean that he hates you. Can anyone show lies and hatred on my site? There may be things that you disagree with but are there lies? If there is any hatred on my site please know, and please be specific so that I can check it out.

Q - Why don't you leave us alone?

A - Firstly my site contains resources for those who are unhappy with their same-sex attraction. Secondly since I have to put up with all the gay propaganda I think I have a right to make a response. Thirdly if I hated gays I would grant your request and do just nothing.

Q - Why did you create this site?

A - Initially because of, and in response to, all the gay propaganda on the web. Secondly to give information and hope to those gays who are unhappy with their lifestyle and who wanted to find a way out of their lifestyle. Thirdly because we believe that a person has the right to choose whether continue in a gay lifestyle. Do opponents of this site have the right to deny the choice to change for someone else?

Q - You are homophobic

A - The true meaning of homophobic is 'an irrational fear of homosexuals' this the gays have distorted and twisted to mean anyone who disagrees with their views. I do not hate gays. Just because someone disagrees with your views does not mean that he hates you. If I hated gays I would not have created these ex-gay pages.

Q - Why are you trying to push your religious beliefs upon everyone else?

A - Gay are trying to push their beliefs upon me, gays believe its OK to be actively gay, I do not - we have free speech and so I have the same right to express my views as everyone else. You are free to choose to believe what you want, I am not trying to push my views upon anybody - my site is for those who want to examine their own beliefs.

Q - I don't believe in Adam and Eve anyway so your views don't apply to me

A - That's up to you, I believe that the bible account in Genesis gives us much valuable information as to our origin and God's purpose in creating us male and female, Jesus himself quotes Genesis 2:24 in his teaching on marriage and divorce (Mat 19:5).

Q - We can do what we like in private.

A - True for consenting adults, but we will all have answer to God for our actions. However the gays are desperately trying to get public acceptance of their private behavior, seeking equal rights in law for gay marriage, adoption etc. This is not a private matter it is a public matter. While I accept heterosexual marriage I do not accept homosexual marriage. I have the same right to argue the case for heterosexual marriage and against homosexual marriage as the gays have for homosexual marriage.

Q - What's wrong with gay marriage?

A - Its not God's purpose for his creation. If we are created by God then there are absolutes and He created marriage between male and female.

Q - We should have equal rights with the rest of society?

A - It is not so much a question of equal rights but doing right. It also depends exactly what you mean by equal rights - equal rights as people, yes; equal rights as married heterosexual couples, no. See question above. What about the neglected gay right - the right to change.

Q - Why does the Church single out homosexuals for special attention?

A - Because of the public demands made by gays to be ordained and to be married - this is a new situation and has to be answered publicly. The church should nevertheless continue to speak against other sexual sins as well. The message of the gospel is that Christ died for sinners but he also calls sinners to repentance. See my essay on Jesus attitude to sexual sinners.

Q - But Jesus never said anything about homosexuality

A - Nothing that is recorded for us, but he endorsed the creation intent for marriage by quoting Genesis 1:27 and 2:24.

(Mat 19:4-6) "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' {5} and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? {6} So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Q - But I was born gay

A - How do you know? Are you a robot, programmed by your genetic code, or a person? Most people only discover their sexual orientation in their teens. There is no proof that it is genetic. Even if this were the case it does not excuse homosexual behavior, it is still sin according to the bible. Even for the heterosexual who is born that way the only permissible sexual relations are within marriage. The alternative is celibacy, both Jesus and Paul were celibate. The argument that because 'it is natural then its OK' may be accepted by society but it is not biblical. We are all born with a predisposition to sin but sin is condemned in the bible. Jesus died to save sinners and to call sinners to repentance, if you use the excuse 'I was born gay' to continue your homosexual activity thus denying your sin - then Jesus death with be of no use to you. We have to admit it to get rid of it. How much do you value your eternal salvation? I Corinthians 6:9-11 indicates that the homosexual can change his behaviour as well as all the self-help books written by those who did change.

Q - I have tried to change but cannot.

A - We believe that only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit that a person can be delivered from homosexual action and orientation. It is homosexual action that is sin and not orientation. Even if a persons orientation does not change it is possible by using the traditional means of grace to lead a celibate life that is pleasing to God. Both Jesus and Paul were celibate.

Q - Gays should enjoy the same status of other minority groups, like blacks

The U.S. Supreme Court has established a three point test to determine who is truly a minority deserving special status. A group must meet all three requirements to qualify. #1 is immutable characteristics (can you change?) #2 is economic discrimination #3 is lack of political influence.

  1. Homosexuals choose their lifestyle and can change. Thousands of homosexuals have been delivered from their perversion and have successfully returned to a normal life according to Dr. D. James Kennedy. Sexual preference is just that, preference. Homosexuals are no more a true minority than those who prefer the lights on when they make love!
  2. When it comes to economic discrimination homosexuals certainly do not qualify. 47.7% of homosexual men own their own home. ("Overlooked Opinion," A Chicago based market research firm, 1/1/92) The average household income for gays is $55,430 while the national average is $32,286 and is only $12,166 for blacks. ("Wall Street Journal" 7/18/91)
  3. Homosexuals are certainly not without political influence either. There are at least 22 avowed homosexuals and/or lesbians who have been appointed to the Clinton White House. (Associated Press Nov. 3, 1993) There are over 100 members of Congress who are in favor of and support homosexual legislation on a regular basis. There are at least two avowed homosexual Representatives in the House. Mark E. Howerter

Q - I have same-sex attraction, I want to change, but how?

Good question, I suggest that you invest in a few self-help books. There is also a list of ex-gay ministries. There is a difference between having same-sex attraction and acting on it. You are not responsible for same-sex attraction but you are responsible for what you do with it. The same can be said for heterosexuals. We are all responsible for what we do with our bodies - for the Christian our bodies are not our own, it was bought with a price (1 Cor 6:19-20)

Q - Is AIDS God's judgement on gays?

A - In America the majority of people with HIV AIDS are gay but not so in the rest of the world where it is mainly a heterosexual disease. Also lesbians do not generally get infected with the HIV virus. The HIV virus is transmitted either sexually or via blood. Therefore any sexually promiscuous group is at greater risk of infection from this terrible virus. Unfortunately the innocent also get infected through untreated blood products. Q - OK, I am Gay and I am HIV+, I will get AIDS in about 10 years and die a rather horrible death after two years. Maybe these latest multiple combination drugs can add a few years but that is all. What hope can you offer?

A - Ok so I presume that you got HIV through your homosexual activity. What next? I do not presume to tell you that God will cure you, maybe but who knows. It is true though that Jesus healed those who came to him for healing. The bad news is that you are likely to die, but the good news is that you have time to consider the meaning of life and to prepare for the next life. Jesus has also died an early death in the prime of life, a painful and cruel death, a death that was unjustified. Most of his friends had left him and only his mother and best friend stood by as he died. Maybe you will admit that yours was justified but his was not. It was a public death, a naked death for all to see. He was sentenced to death both by Jews and Gentiles, the whole world was involved in his death, 'Crucify him' they shouted, maybe you also said the same. But now facing death yourself, you are thinking about your past life. Do you justify your life or do you condemn it, that is up to you. Remember the thief upon the cross:

(Luke 23:39-43 NIV) One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" {40} But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? {41} We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." {42} Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." {43} Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Which one will you be? The one that hurled insults at him, or the one who admitted his sin and admitted the righteousness of Christ and asked Jesus to remember him? God is love - that is true, but he is also a Holy and righteous God. If he was just a God of love then there would be no need for Jesus to die an ugly death upon a cross, the fact that God is both love and righteous meant that Jesus had to die upon that cross to reconcile both you and me to a holy God. Jesus died a premature death so that you could be forgiven and obtain eternal life in the next life, the proof of this is that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

(Rom 5:6-8 NIV) You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. {7} Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. {8} But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

(1 Pet 3:18 NIV) For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,

(1 Pet 2:22-25 NIV) "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." {23} When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. {24} He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. {25} For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

(1 Pet 4:1-3 NIV) Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. {2} As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. {3} For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do--living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.
