| The creation evolution scene is slowly changing.
In 1985 two books were issued by creationists which refuted the young earth
hypothesis and in 1994 Hugh Ross published 'Creation and Time' which agreed
with the 'big bang' and also refuted young earth scenarios, see
Age of the Earth links. The discoveries behind the
Anthropic Principle shows a universe that is fine
tuned for life to exist. Then Phillip E Johnson
published the book 'Darwin on Trial' followed by the author Michael J Behe publishing 'Darwin's Black Box' which
demonstrates the "irreducible complexity" of structures at a
molecular level and is a modern equivalent to Paley's
watch. The origin of life from matter has still not found a solution (Abiogenesis). The universe seems less a product of
chance and more one of Intelligent
Design than before. The pages below are to help you explore these options.
Go here for a few thoughts on Death and the seventh
day and their relevance to the age of the earth. Below this is my

Chance is frequently seen as the bogey man in
evolution, but the scripture indicates otherwise. Comments to

Authors background: Physics degree 1976, I have been
watching the creation evolution debate since about 1974. I am an old earth
creationist who believes in intelligent design. I do not believe that the laws
of physics and chemistry have the innate ability to produce complex structures
having the appearance of design. I believe in microevolution but not in its
extrapolation to macroevolution. I believe that the God of the Word, is the God
of His Works.
This site deals with our origins, however, for the Christian
this issue is settled (God did it). For the Christian the issue of our future
destiny has more influence on our every-day lives. Our attitude towards the
future has a greater impact on our actions today than our attitude towards the
past. My Revelation website looks at
eschatology, the study of those things that happen in the future.
Another useful and more pro-evolution site that explores the Creation
Evolution controversy is

Evolution Controversy

| My essay on creation and evolution summarises where I
ended after about three years of research. My conclusion is that if you believe
that there is a God then you would choose the creation by a designer route. It
automatically follows that if you do not believe in God then you have to
believe in evolution through naturalistic processes as it is the only
alternative. From a scientific point of view we have to distinguish between
evolution as it can be scientifically observed such as bacteria mutations etc
and the processes that led to the origin of man which cannot be observed
directly and are therefore subject to speculation. If we therefore adopt a
forensic methodology and look at the evidence that is before us, then belief in
evolution as a mechanism for our origin requires far more faith than belief in
a Creator because of the ample evidence all around us that there is indeed a
Designer. Ones belief in evolution or creation is determined by ones world view
and not by the evidence which is not so compelling as to force one to believe
in evolution. One can be a good scientist and still believe in creation.
