SCIENCE PROJECT REPORT

When you write the final report for your science project, you will be expected to follow this format, typing it in double spaced form with a 12 font. As you can see from the rubric, your grade will depend on how well you complete the report.

1. TITLE PAGE The title should be centered. It should include both of your variables. Your name and date should be included on the lower line. All should be centered.

2. ABSTRACT (250 words or less). This should include your hypothesis, experimental design and conclusion.

3. MAIN TEXT (At least ½ paper) This part of the paper should give all of the background information needed to establish the hypothesis. Make sure that you use all relevant library research. In this section, all terms that will be used should be defined. The hypothesis should be put in context.

4 METHOD (3 –5 paragraphs) Describe, in detail, the controlled experiment that was completed. Identify the variables , how they were measured and controlled. Describe the apparatus used. Include any problems encountered and modifications needed.

5 DATA This section should include tables of all measured and calculated data. Sample calculations , statistical measurements and graphs should be included here.

6 CONCLUSION. In this section, the claim, evidence, and warrant should be established. Data should be selected to prove the claim. The warrant should discuss the relevance of the data ; how it proves the claim and how valid it is. There should be a discussion of error possibilities and the implications of the results. Where could this study lead in the future?

7 BIBLIOGRAPHY A complete list of relevant bibliographic references in proper form is included.
