Temperature VS. Magnet Decay
Abstract:
I think that as you heat magnets the strength of the magnets will decrease. In the experiment I took two magnets and heated them at different temperatures. I have heated the magnets starting at 40°C and going to 100°C. I used intervals of five and tens degree during different trials. Then I tested the magnets with a scale and recorded the results that showed the strength in grams. When two magnets face two different directions and you put fillings on the top, they will form a magnetic field. Every other trial I heated the magnets, I created a pattern of the magnetic field by using iron filings. In conclusion, I have found out that as you heat a magnet the magnet loses strength. The decline in the magnetic strength was not consistent. Sometimes the strength of the magnet stayed the same or went even higher than the starting point. However as the heat increased the magnet decreased in strength therefore forming an inverse relationship.
