Abstract
The Apollo 8 astronauts in 1968 were the first people to ever witness an Earthrise. Since then, many people have seen Earthrises. What people have never seen, is the Earth's internal structure and dynamics. With new technology, however, we use the supercomputer to take a visual journey inside the Earth. The supercomputer has made an image using data on seismic waves that passed through the Earth.
This process is like a Cat San, where X-rays are used to produce detailed images of an object. With this "Cat San", we have a picture of what the Earth's interior looks like. Geophysicists believe some of this material is the remains of giant pieces of the Earth's crust that went into the Earth through a process called subduction. Computer technology is really helping scientists to understand the Earth, and its behavior. This article was very interesting, and I would recommend it to people interested in what the Earth's interior looks like, and the technology of the supercomputer.
