Abstract

What effects does relative humidity have on the visibility of stars? by John

Before starting this experiment, my hypothesis was that relative humidity does have an affect on the visibility of stars. I said that if the relative humidity is fairly high, a star would be less visible to the naked eye than if the relative humidity was fairly low. I decided that to test my hypothesis, I was going to measure the humidity and the visibility of a certain star on a non-cloudy night at the same time each night. The star that I choose to measure was Rigel. Rigel is part of the Orion constellation. It stands for his left leg or foot. After looking over my data, I found that my hypothesis was correct. Relative humidity does have an affect on the visibility of a star.
