Fine Art Photography

Welcome to my 'on-line' photographic exhibition.

Much of my photography is 'traditional' in style ranging from the wide-open vista of a scenic landscape to the close-up detail of a natural pattern. The power in such pictures lies in a careful balance of line and form being visualised at the moment of taking.

Considerably more impact can be gained by 'manipulating' a picture, either at the taking stage, or afterwards in the darkroom or on the PC. By this means it is possible to alter or even replicate key elements of a picture, and to combine different pictures together. This allows me to 'create' new photographic images with a strong visual design.

On-Line Exhibitions

I have recently been working on a theme involving impressionistic close-up views of flowers. My aim has been to enhance their luminosity and colour whilst also introducing an overall peaceful quality. All of the effects have been achieved at the taking stage.

I am currently fascinated by the possibilities for post-processing my original 35mm pictures using digital imaging techniques. This allows my imagination to run riot and the production of surreal and satisfying results.

I am lucky to have a job that frequently takes me to different parts of the world. Over the years this has given me the opportunity to photograph some amazing sights.

Digital Imaging

If you are finding it difficult to get into digital imaging, you might like to download

"The Basics of Digital Imaging" (PDF: 300KB/9 pages) in which I explain:-

 How file size is calculated

The difference between input and output resolution

How to achieve photographic quality results
