A full recreational and social program is carefully planned and supervised by our program staff. This provides campers with a variety of activity choices which include bowling, carnival, talent show, dances, arts and crafts, competitive events, an animal farm, and nature activities.
Three well balanced, nutritious meals and evening refreshments are served each day. Consideration is given to any needing special diets.
Camp horizon staff consists of camp directors, counselors, assistant counselors, nurse and cooks.
Maturity, understanding, and responsibility are characteristics considered in the selection of counselors. Often we hire those pursuing careers in special education.
The security and health of the campers are major concerns of the staff. We aim to provide a ratio of one staff to every two campers with as much indivual attention given as possible.
Any disabled child or adult who, in the opinion of the Camp Directors and nurse, can derive benefit from the Camp Horizon program is eligible, regardless of race, color, creed, sex, or national origin.
Camp Horizon is held at Lions Bay Horizon Park located in Birch Bay, WA. The facilities provide dormitories, a well-equipped kitchen, large dining area, regulation size gym, ativities center, arts and crafts, and a first aid station. Various activities are also held off grounds through prearranged field trips.
