Tying Instructions

Method

Fish wet off bubble & weighted

1.Tie body to hook with tread from bend to eye

2.wrap thread at thorax and wind in wings on either side with fanned bunches of flashbou white fluro.

3.Tie head off Whip finish.

4.Trim wings so as even with each other(Matuka style)

5.Cement head (heavy)

Light up with torch on ground and cast, pull through slowly on current of stream or river flow. Excellent on mouth of river entering lake.

Excellent at night in Hydro lakes of South Island for Rainbow trout.

Veiling: Jungle-cock-eye, Sides: Blue Pukeko Feathers, Body: Black chenille, Hackle: Black, Tag: Red Floss, Ribbing: Flat silver tinsel,Alternative Body:Wool.

Tying Instructions:

1930 Design

Use only Pukeko Feathers ( see Tier) Wool: black Alternative body material Black chenille

Topping: one jungle-cock-eye laid on top of the blue wings.

1. Tie in tag at bend of hook.

2. Tie in body wool or chenille and silver tinsel for ribbing.

3. Wind in body and rib with silver tinsel length of hook from bend to eye.

4. Tie in wings of Pukeko breast feathers and jungle feather topping on top.

5. Wind black hackle at head tight.

6. Whip finish & Cement head black.

This is a great Pukeko Style Fly for Night fishing in all lakes

Tail: a bunch of Ginger fiber from the same fibers as the hackle
Head Cement: Black
Start at the hook bend with the Black Cord/floss wind on tail fibers and
then wind through to the eye, wind on Cord/floss and bind to hook bend tie
off floss take cord back through to hook eye Making bulge just behind Hackle
position with Cord/floss  when winding body - Wind on Wings to stand upright
behind cup/cone shaped plenty of Ginger Hackle, bring monocord forward and
bind a thorax behind eye Whip finish and head Cement
Note: sometimes Twilight Beauty's  are tied wingless

Manuka Beetle Dry Fly
Material
Thread:Black mono cord
Hook: Mustard 3904A size 10-14
Body :Deer hair
Hackles : Grizzled
CASED Wings :Rafine green,or Floss Green(you can use Bright green Lurex
Strands)
Tie Rafine, floss or Lurex at bend of hook with black cord wind cord to eye
the spin on some deer hair along shank of hook wrapping with mono cord down
to bend, clip the deer hair body to shape (fat in center tapered to bend &
Eye)  and tie in a good stiff floating Hackle at the thorax end pick a good
Grizzled Hackle for a green beetle,wind Hackle on ,secure with several turns
of the thread, then pull wing case rafine, floss or Lurex over deer head
from back of Hook bend to back of hackle( on top of fly)  and tie it off
just behind Hackle,clip off surplus take thread to front of Hackle make
small head whip finish and add cement head.
you now have a good example of a Green or Manuka
