quadding Extra space which is added at the end of a line of type. The singular of the second definition of quad.
quad (writing) directionality A writing direction where a succeeding letterform glyph may be placed to the left, right, above, or below the current or preceding glyph. Certain scripts (for example, Indic or Egyptian hieroglyphic) can be classified in this manner.
quadtone A monotone graphic, usually black-and-white, reproduced using a four color process (often CMYK).
