South East Regional Grade 3 - 5 Competition, Ashford, Kent, 30th March 2003
A team of 9 from Sussex Springers Trampoline Club attended the recent SE Regional Grade 3–5 Competition in Ashford and returned with an individual 1st place trophy and a Team Silver medal. A total of 250 competitors from 23 different clubs took part in a very high quality competition and the Springers once more acquitted themselves well.
Megan Comber exceeded all expectations with a superb performance to win the Under 13 Grade 3 section, while in the Under 15 Grade 5 Girls section Amelia Russell, Stephanie Paul and Lauren Young won the team silver medal.
Aside from the medal winners, Jasmine Broadley and Amelia Russell maintained their recent good form and once again achieved good placings in their sections. Kathryn Hall, in her first competition back after a bad injury, showed a lot of courage before her injury eventually got the better of her. There is no doubt that Kathryn will soon be back to her best, but there’s nothing to be gained by rushing her recovery. Stephanie Paul showed great consistency and Lauren Young continues to improve in what is still new territory for her. Hannah Thomas competed well in the girls Under 11 section, but a poor voluntary, by her standards, left her off the pace. Matthew Passmore, in his first competition for the club, certainly seemed to enjoy himself and showed that he too can compete in a big event with little sign of nerves. Laura Billings, competing for the first time at Grade 5 did well and gained valuable experience in a tough age group.
