South East Regional Closed Trampolining Competition,
Jumpers Rebound Centre, Gillingham
20th October 2002
Another Trampoline Competition, this time the South East Regional Closed, took place this weekend at Jumpers Rebound Centre in Gillingham. A rather depleted Springers squad of 11 took part along with 280 other competitors representing 14 clubs. Considering the size of the squad, it was quite a successful meeting. The club had 3 trophy-winners this time. In her first competition, Laura Billings won the U18 girls Grade 6 section, while Kathryn Hall took 2nd place in the U18 Girls Grade 4 and Megan Comber was 3rd in the U11 Girls Grade 4 section.
There were near misses for Louise Miles, also in her first competition for the club, who was 4th at U13 Girls Grade 6 and Hannah Thomas who also came 4th, in the U9 Girls Grade 5. Also competing were Lauren Ward, the other first-timer, who was 5th in the U11 Girls Grade 6 section, Jasmine Broadley, 14th in the U13 Girls Grade 5, Stephanie Paul and Amelia Russell, 8th and 10th in the U15 Girls Grade 5, Stephanie Combe, 7th in the U18 Girls Grade 5 and Maddy Heath who was 7th in the U9 Girls Grade 5.
This competition included all levels from Grade 6 up to Grade 1 competitors so it was a good chance for the Springers to see how far they need to progress to reach National standard. Some of the Trampolining on display was quite breathtaking. Hopefully it will inspire the Springers to great things, rather than scaring them off completely!!
