The high profile of these meetings was such that Mr Tu the Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee was present.
The Delegation were invited to the Japan Upper House of Councillors, we were met by their President. The President is in complete support and commitment of Wushu to be included in the 2008 Games in Beijing.
 

1 Chairman's Report:

The 6th World Wushu Championship in Armenia during October, was only moderately successful, with many countries not travelling to compete, this was largely due to the attack in America on Sept 11th 2001, which had a profound effect throughout the world.

IWUF Developments since the 6th World Championships:
On 1st February 2002 the IWUF became recognised by the International Olympic Committee. The aim is to promote Wushu to the IOC Committees.
In June 2002 the IOC Committee members held a meeting in Kuala Lumpa of which the Chinese organising Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games attended. The Chinese Olympic Games Organising Committee laid on a banquet for 500 IOC guests, which included the IOC President Dr Rogge and his colleagues. As the majority of the IOC guests were unfamiliar with Wushu, the entertainment for the guests was a full demonstration of Wushu, with athletes from around the world.

The Chairman finished his report by saying that the Olympic delegation now knows what Wushu is.

It was also announced that Mr Wu Bin has retired as Chairman of the IWUF Technical committee and that Mr Huang Linghai will take over the position of Chairman.
 
 

2 Relevant matters for the 7th World Championships in Macau 2003:

a- it was agreed that the Host Federation should stipulate the competition regulations, working within the IWUF guidelines

b- Regulation on the selection of Judges:
The IWUF Technical committee, according to their grade will appoint the Judges.
Only Grade A Judges in either Sanshou or Taolu will be selected for the World Championships.

 c- Doping Control:
The IWUF have signed a contract with the World Anti Doping Agency (W.A.D.A) and each Country must send a full listing of their squad. This listing must contain the full names and addresses so that WADA can choose at random any athlete at any time.
To be a member of their countries team, the athlete must comply with all the conditions.
 
 

3 Discussion of IWUF Judges Management Policy:

The IWUF Judges Management Policy was approved at the last Technical Committee 29th October 2001 in Armenia.
The current IWUF Judges shall complete their classification through the examination procedure in 2003.
BCCMA Vice Chairman Peter Warr presented the Judges grading structure and the Judges Administration document to the IWUF in 2001.
 
 
 

4 The Event Plan for the 7th World Wushu Championships

Taolu : 22 Gold Medals - (11 for Male & 11 for Female)

Changquan  -  Nanquan  -  Taijiquan  -  Daoshu  -  Jianshu  -  Nandao
-  Taijijian  -  Qiangshu  -  Gunshu  -  Nangun  -  Dual Events.

 Competition Routine:
 Nanquan, Nandao, Nangun, Taijiquan & Taijijian shall adopt the required
routine.

Changquan, Daoshu, Jianshu, Qiangshu and Gunshu shall adopt the new competition routine.
 
 

 Dual Events:
It shall be conducted by 2 or 3 persons. It includes barehanded vs barehanded, barehanded vs weapons and weapons vs weapons.
Male and female athletes cannot be mixed.
 
 

Entry:
The maximum team size shall be 8 athletes (no limitation of men or women).
Each team member may enter at most Chuanshu, Weapon or Dual Events.
 
 

Sanshou: 18 Gold Medals (11 for male and 7 for female)

Male : 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 80kg, 85kg, 90kg, 90kg+

Female : 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg (new)

Entry:
The maximum team size shall be 5 male athletes and 4 female athletes.
Each team member shall enter one category and each team may enter one athlete at each category.

Placing:
Taolu: The first 8 places of each event
Sanshou: The first 3 places of each category (juxtaposition at the 3rd places)
 
 

5 Amending Wu Shu Competition Rules

To reduce the ruling of the factitious elements as much as possible.
To be developed in accordance with the Olympic spirit; Higher, Faster, Stronger, Technical styles & characteristics shall be exerted to make Wu Shu competition more enjoyable.
The amendment of rules will not be conducted until after the 7th World Wushu Championships.
 

The IWUF Technical and Executive Committee's were invited to Japan's 19th Wushu & Taijiquan National Championships.
This competition ran over a three-day period, where 2500 competitors took part. The competition was very well organised, with a sophisticated computer judging system. Japan has over 1200 qualified Wushu Judges.
Over the three day period the competition was very well attended, with between 5000 to 6000 spectators a day.

There will be in 2004 a Traditional Competition in China, of which the Rules & Regulations are still being prepared.
