 Saul Research offers a research based ASIC activity with a capability of taking your product concept through to an ASIC in a demonstration module. All stages of the theoretical approach, circuit design, layout, processing (via foundry), chip assembly (via external supplier) and initial evaluation can be carried out. Assembly of chips into functional modules is also offered, and is available in prototype quantities if required.

Specialist design areas include:-

* Analogue active filter design, at low and high (>1GHz) frequencies

* Sensor interface design, especially where low noise is required

* R.F. Design, including amplifiers, mixers, filters and direct synthesisers.

* High speed, low power, low voltage digital design

* Data Converter Design

Technology expertise includes recent full custom designs on sub-micron bipolar and CMOS. Processing is usually through the Europractice foundry for low cost prototyping, although other foundries are available.

Extensive test and evaluation equipment is available for R.F. circuitry and for low frequency analogue. A major output is in the form of comprehensive technical reports at all stages of the design. In the feasibility stages, these are both representative of the design and indicative of the design strategy.

The example below is of an operational amplifier design. This was aimed at high performance chips which require multiple, stable, wideband op-amps. One example chip has 20 of these on a 3 channel, two poles per channel filter.

Saul Research is  ISO9001 approved for design.
