FEED
HORN FOR 1691Mhz - 1694.5Mhz
Geostationary
satellite dish
Due
to requests from many visitors to this site I have prepared some
photographs
of my current project.
A
new stainless steel feed-horn for the 1.8 Meter Dish.
I
have included dimensions to enable others to make a similar horn
Overall
length of horn 174mm - position to internal probe 132mm
The
position of the probe is 42mm - 44mm from the inside bottom face
to
the hole centre which is 16mm diameter
Inside
diameter of the horn is 122mm - whilst the probe
length
is between 31mm - 33mm
For
the Meteosat 7 geostationary satellite the polarity is horizontal from
the UK
The
probe can be made adjustable using a hollow tube 4mm diameter,
threaded
and fitted with a machine screw and lock-nut
The
probe is attached to an 'N' type connector and connection to the horn should
be
clean
and sealed with a good quality low modulus
neutral
cure silicone to prevent oxidisation
Connectors
and co-axial cable should be sealed with self amalgamating tape.
It
is not necessary to be over fussy with the dimensional accuracy
but
the nearer to the specified sizes the better reception will be.
Don't
be put off by the fear of not succeeding - think of the coffee can
and
all will be OK !
