THE BRITISH SUNDIAL SOCIETY

BSS Logo

THE SOCIETY was formed in 1989 by a small group of enthusiasts. It grew rapidly as many people joined who had been fascinated by the subject for years but had never before met anyone else interested! We are now a thriving and friendly society of nearly 600 members.

THE OBJECTS OF THE BSS ARE:

MEMBERS receive four 40-50 page Journals each year and at least four Newsletters; they have the chance to come to meetings and join in various activities, lectures and social events. We are governed by a Council elected by members at our Annual General Meeting. A number of special interest groups have been created including Dial Recording, Education, Mass Dials and Restoration.

FOR MORE INFORMATION about the Society or if you have a query about sundials, write to the Secretary:

Douglas Bateman, Secretary, The British Sundial Society, 4 Wokingham Road, Crowthorne, Berks RG45 7NR.  Please tell him you got his address from this page.

One of the main activities of the Society is to record all known fixed and mass dials in the UK and Eire and to log them onto the Society's databases. If you are interested to see what goes on in that area click here....
