Well it's only right and proper, isn't it? Here are a few sites and things which may or may not be of interest, along with brief descriptions which I hope will help you avoid wasting your time.
Probably the best site dealing with Tekumel, and the place to start if you want to learn more about this fascinating game. You can learn more about the background, or download one of a number of sets of rules, including Brett's own GURPS version, and Dave Morris's Tirikelu.
Another page concerned with Tekumel. It is beautiful looking, but at the expense of using Java. As yet it doesn't have that much material in place.
A paper fanzine concerned with Tekumel. No, make that THE paper fanzine concerned with Tekumel. Unfortunately it has recently folded, but you might still be able to get back issues off Steve.
Despite being such a passionate convert
to the Net that he ditched his fax machine years ago, Ian Marsh
has only just got round to putting up a Web page. At the moment
it is mainly concerned with Tekumel (especially Ian's character
Orun) and the Doctor Who RPG Timelord. The latter game is
available in Acrobat and PostScript files which can be downloaded
from Ian's pages. It was designed several years ago by Ian, and
then fell out of print, as so often happens. It's a great game,
though, so it's good news to see it back. The PostScript version
will be followed by HTML as soon as Ian finds the time to do all
that tedious coding.
One of the very few general RPG fanzines still surviving in the UK, and one with personality too. It's a paper fanzine, but you can check out the web page for details of how to get it. Robert Rees, the editor, is also decent enough to distribute imazine with the zine, so if you already get imazine, please let him know you don't need to be sent it.
Gold Rush are publishing a Japanese
rolegame called Sengoku. They have some rather grandiose
plans for it, especially in terms of the number of supplements
they plan to put out. This page gives details of what they're
currently doing. The company also published stuff for the Hero
Games system, and have a game based on an animal samurai comic
called Usagi Yojimbo.
This is a well interesting set of pages.
True, if you want to penetrate its inner secrets you have to
email its proprietor Leonard Hung for a password. Also true,
it'll be disappearing some time in April (so sorry if you're
reading this after then). But it's worth taking a look if you
have any interest in Chinese games, because Leonard's got some
fascinating, and tightly interlinked ideas on how to apply
Chinese metaphysics to rolegames. A review of his Chinese
rolegame will appear in issue 26 of imazine.
A paper fanzine covering Skyrealms of Jorune. Required reading if you're into the game, and worth a look if you've never heard of it! Write to: Ray Gillham, Top Floor Flat, 24 Queens Road, Sketty, Swansea, SA2 0SB, UK.
From a staggeringly inactive mailing list, Trevor Mendham's seminal fanzine has transformed into a nicely appointed Web Page (puts mine to shame, certainly). Covers a variety of subjects including religion, politics, sex and games with the author's customary wit and finesse.
That's all for now. I'll try to add to this when I remember.
