Irene’s Creative Quilting

Professional and Custom Machine Quilting from the Heart

Too many quilt tops and too little time?

Many quilters love to plan and create quilt tops, yet somehow doing the actual quilting doesn’t hold the same appeal. Yet without quilting, the top remains unfinished and incomplete. Quilting not only holds the top, batting and back together, but it adds to the beauty and longevityof the quilt.

Irene's Creative Quilting is hand-guided, machine quilting service. Individual attention is given to every quilt and I work closely with my customers to ensure their satisfaction. I specialize in meandering and free-form patterns, but also do wide variety of pantograph and custom patterns. I believe that quilting really does make the quilt!

When I’m not busy finishing quilts for my clients, I also produce a variety of custom-quilted items for sale. From baby to king-sized quilts, I will work with you to create that special gift for that hard-to-shop-for someone in your life. Start a new tradition by presenting someone with a quilt that can be passed down to the next generation!

How do you prepare your quilt for machine quilting? (see Quilt Preparation) Check to see that all seams are sewn and pressed down and loose threads should be trimmed from the back of your top. Quilt backing must be at least 4" longer and wider (2" on each side) than your quilt top, and your backing should have straight, square corners.

How much does it cost? I generally charge by the square foot (see Price List), but like children, each quilt is unique and deserves special attention. Estimates cannot be made without actually seeing and measuring your quilt and discussing your needs with you. A 50% deposit of the estimated total quilting service is required to begin quilting, with the balance due when work is completed.

Summer is here! I am now taking appointments for May 2005.

About the Quilting Machine

I use a 24" Noltings Longarm Quilter. It is a hand-guided machine mounted on a 14-foot long table. The back of the machine has a laser guide that allows me to trace patterns (also called pantographs) laid out down the length of the table. Custom work, including stippling, meandering, and feathers are stitched from the front or head of the machine.

Photo Gallery

My photo gallery includes both quilts that I have completed (start to finish) myself, and those that I have quilted on the longarm machine for clients. Photo's of client quilts indicate the first name of the Quilter and any special notes on the longarm quilting techniques I've used. When available, I've included the name or designer of the pattern. My photo gallery is organized by the size of the quilt. Please click on the links below:
