Symptoms: Your
HP LaserJet II, III, or Laserwriter II printer makes a chirping noise coming
from the back near the power cord plug. Some people say the noise sounds
like "crickets."
The noise occurs BOTH when the printer is printing and when it stops printing. The noise is NOT coming from the Upper Fan (see Chirping Noise-Upper Fan Kit.) You can pinpoint the noise by getting a rubber hose and place one end to the Lower Fan Grill (see below) and the other end to your ear. Cause: The lower cooling fan is worn. This usually caused by wear & tear. |
|
|
Workaround: You
can ignore the noise. It won't hurt the printer until it stops--which means
that the fan has seized.
Kit Description: The kit involves replacing the lower cooling fan. It should last about 100K pages. |
