Symptoms: Your
HP LaserJet IIp/IIIp displays "12 Open or No EP" Message. After turning the
printer off and performing the 3 checks shown below, you still get the error.
Cause: This error message have multiple causes. However, if you have ruled out the 3 checks shown below, then chances are you have a bad circuit board PCA #3. |

There are no workarounds for this problem.
Kit Description: The kit involves replacing the circuit board PCA #3. |

Check #1: Make sure the Fuser Access door is closed tightly. (Open and close the door.) Use canned air and blow out the left side shown below by red arrow.
Check #2: Open the printer take out the toner cartridge then reinstall the toner cartridge. Make sure that, as you close the printer, the toner cartridge door swings up and that the Sensor Flag (shown below by red arrow) is not broken. Otherwise replace the toner cartridge. If the toner cartridge door still doesn't swing up, the lever arm on the left side of your printer is faulty.
Check #3: Use canned air or a Q-tip and clean the 2 sensors shown below by red arrows.
