Symptoms: Your HP LaserJet II, III, or Laserwriter II printer jams at the front in the paper tray. The paper does NOT get to the registration assembly. The registration assembly is the part with the green handle in the FRONT inside of the printer (see picture below.)

The printer jams more often when you print heavy stock paper or when the paper tray is full. Printing envelopes is almost impossible. Sometimes when it jams, you can see a faint black smudge at the top middle of the page.

Cause: The paper pick assembly is worn. This usually caused by wear & tear.

Phillips Scewdriver

Workaround: Keeping the paper tray less than half full will reduce the pressure on the paper pick assembly a bit.

Kit Description: The kit involves replacing the paper pick assembly. It should last about 100K pages.

Note: For HP IID and IIID printers, this kit is for the Upper Input Tray--NOT the Lower Input Tray.
