Symptoms: Your HP LaserJet II, III, or Laserwriter II printer makes a groaning noise as the paper comes out the top output tray. The noise changes when you pull on the paper as it is coming out.

The noise stops when the printer is not printing or when you switch the output to the rear tray.

Cause: The paper delivery assembly is worn. This usually caused by wear & tear.

Phillips Scewdriver

Needle-nose Pliers

Workaround: You can open the rear output tray and print out the rear. You can ignore the noise--it won't harm the printer. Eventually the paper will jam at this location.

Kit Description: The kit involves replacing the paper delivery assembly. It should last about 100K pages.
