Sean is the Author of "Irish Surnames". A handy guidebook on Every name you'll find in Ireland. He's currently working on a follow-up edition.Sean was born in Abbeyfeale, Co, Limerick in 1922. He graduated in Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. Married to mary Murphy. They have 5 children. He's worked on engineering projects at home - mainly in Counties Kerry and Limerick and abroad. On his retirement in 1987, he realized a life-long ambition to follow in the footsteps of his kinsman, Father Patrick woulfe, and add something to the lore of our forefathers. Sean has been a huge help to me in the project. During our visit to Ireland, sean and his son Maurice, acted as guides, and took us to many important sites during our 2 days in Limerick. He is truly an Irish National treasure.
My background lies in late-medieval and early modern history and genealogy,I have co-authored one book on these subjects (The Pipe Roll of Cloyne;Cloyne, 1996), which contains detailed histories of dozens of Munstersurnames, and have had papers published, or forthcoming, in the academicjournals of several Munster counties, such as the Journal of the CorkHistorical and Archaeological Society and the Kerry Archaeological andHistorical Society, and in the prestigious History and Society series, aswell as Ireland's premier genealogical journal, Irish Genealogist, whilebeing a regular contributor to the populist Irish genealogical magazine,Irish Roots, mostly on the subject of surnames from all parts of Ireland. Ihave also published in Perita: The Journal of the Medieval Society ofIreland. I obtained a first honours masters degree from the NationalUniversity of Ireland, Cork, in 1994. In light of this background Ispecialise in Irish surname studies, offering a service that is virtuallyunique and, in addition, also offer a genealogy service.

His father, Michael Alphonsus Woulfe was born in Australia in 1935 to John and Catherine Woulfe. He emigrated to Australia in 1957. John was born in Canada in 1962. He lives in Canberra and is also in the Army Reserve. His hobbies include running, target shooting, movies, parties, and Barbeques with friends.
His dad, John Woulfe Lives in Sydney and works for Tower life. His Aunt Katy who also lives in Sydney, is a source of family research.

Here's Jim Woulfe of Sydney with partner of 12 years, Andreas Ohm. Jim's dad came to Australia from Askeaton, Co. Limerick in the 1950's and settled in the Sydney area. I'll bet 120 volts Andreas has an elecritfying family background too.
I have included his background without editing in the form he sent it, because -first of all, it's wonderful, and because it's much more personal to have it in his own words. I too love to look back on growing up with my wonderful Woulfes in Washginton, D.C....mw
"My father and his 5 brothers came to Australia in the 1950's. All settled in the Northern suburbs of Sydney. 5 of them married, and between them had 26 children, of whom, I am the oldest. When I was growing up, the companionship and support of this huge and extended family was very precious, and I am able to look back on a happy childhood filled with boisterous Woulfe family gatherings.
Today, 2 of my uncles have passed away, and the family has dispersed across eastern Australia, though we still come together occaisionally. In June 1998, when one of my aunts came to Australia to visit her brothers many of us gathered for a beach picnic at Killcare, just north of Sydney. There were about 120 people present, and again, it was loud and joyful.
In additon to his parents, my father left 7 sisters behind - 3 in Ireland, and 4 in England - who had 22 children between them, making a total of 48 in our generation. In my travels, I have been lucky enough to meet all but one of my cousins, and I feel I will catch up with him one day too.
I was born in Sydney, and even though I have both Australian and Irish citizenship, I have always regarded myself as Australian and Sydney as my home. Nevertheless, I have lived in several other countries -Britian, Finland, Hungary, and Germany - and in addition to English, I also speak German and Hungarian.
Today, I live in a quiet inner-city suburb of Sydney with my partner of 12 years, Andreas Ohm, who, like the husbands and wives and partners of other family members, enjoys the loyalty and acceptance of the extended Woulfe family.

Caley Woulfe is Sean deBhulb of Limerick's neice.
She lives near Atlanta, Georgia and works as a P.C. tech at the Library of Life University. As you can see, like me and John Woulfe of Australia, Caley enjoys re-enacement groups too. She is very active with the S.C.A. - The Society for Creatice Anachronism. When she takes part - she's Caoaillainn De Bhulbh, She-Wolf of Limerick.
Irish women have traditionally been tough ladies, and several have high places in our history as warriors and even as a pirate. English soldiers have many times in our history been fought off by not only Irish men - but by Irish women too - whether armed with a broadaxe or sword - or in later times. pitchforks, rocks and bottles. The early Irish church also highly valued learned women, and some were appointed Bishops - unlike in the narrow-minded continental church. Credit the Irish people with being wise enough in recent history to elect a woman president.
Her dad is Maurice Woulfe, Sean de Bhulbh of Limerick City's brother. Maurice came to the U.S. in 1956. He had just come from 8 years in Africa as a Veterinarian with the British Colonial Service.
I'm the guy who made the page. I was born in Miami in 1953, but spent most of my childhood near my other Woulfe relatives in Washington, DC. I've lived in South Florida since 1968. Jack of all trades and master of none...In my younger days,I've built houses, done commercials and did a few extra parts in a few forgettable movies, run resturants, and driven trucks. I've been in radio now for 20 years. In the picture above, I'm the big goofy looking one on the right...the little cute one on the left is my wife of 9 years, Ronna. She's the General manager of Clear Channel radio in Miami. I love motorcycles. Me and a pal took our bikes on an 8- thousand mile loop around the US and Canada 3 years ago. I also love to read history and I collect as much as I can from historical periods I read about. I collect WWII gear - both British and American.I even have an old Enfield made in 1918 - I like to think maybe my grandfather once carried it.

My brother, John works for Miami-Dade County, where he heads the elevator inspection department. My sister Karen McCormick is a former teaching assistant and worked with handicapped children . She now has her hands full raising 2 teenagers, Jon and Shannon.
Like John Woulfe above, I also belonged to a local re-enactment group, and also have a Brown Bess flintlock. Even though we're on opposite sides of the planet - think we share some family traits?
