Above  Saxon Way, Airedale

The houses were built on the edge of the Airedale estate in the late 1960's to cope with an expected influx of miners and their families.  However, over the years demand for houses in Saxon Way and adjoining Tudor Way has declined and many houses are now boarded up due to vandalism. Both Airedale Estate and Knottingley's Warwick estate are to benefit from the £4.1m Fresh Aire regeneration scheme.

Improvements
Some £1,120,000 is being earmarked for road improvements, including major reconstruction work on the A655 at Castleford (£438,000) and the A645 at Pontefract (£438,000). More than £117,000 is to be spent on resurfacing other roads while nearly £500,000 has been targeted at other highway schemes, including cycle routes, safe routes to school, bus routes and pedestrian improvements, town centre improvements and traffic calming measures. Environmental improvements are planned at The Square, Airedale Castleford.

St. Michael's Church St.Michael's is in need of our help.  Once all the sponsorship money is collected, Fr. Larkin will make up to £500 from the Parish account.  This means in effect they will receive £1000 from St.Edmund's
