St. Bridget and empty messages

I notice that we have been receiving empty messages marked "none."
Newcomers to the hornlist may not realize that these messages herald
the February 29 feast-day of Saint Bridget of Raoux.

As a girl, Saint Bridget studied horn with Giovanni Punto. She attempted
to combine a nun's calling with horn calling. Unfortunately, the
religious climate of the time did not tolerate such innovations. Skeptics
scoffed at her claim that she was the Mouthpiece of God. Bravely,
however, she carried her instrument as she sought admission to various
cloistered orders. She was at various times a member of the order of
Saint Agnes, the Benedictine Order, The Sisters of the Holy Cross,
the Carmelites, the Order of St. Alexander at Mainz, finally
becoming prioress of the order of Saint Hubert at Raoux, in France.
Unfortunately, this convent was overrun during the French Revolution,
and St. Bridget was executed, despite Punto's intervention.

Believers vow, however, that at the moment the guillotine blade descended,
St. Bridget became Nun of the Above.

Gotta go,
